Fuel system ?'s for an ls1 swap

ok, so i havent posted much but i have been reading on here for about a year probably and i know yall can help me with this. i have an 86 lwb and i just bought an ls1/4l60e to do the swap i have most everything figured out on what i want to do but im not sure about the fuel tank. i know that i have to have an in tank fuel pump but the problem comes into play with the tank. i plan on bagging the truck within the next year and a half. im pretty sure the saddle bags stick down below the frame. im not sure about the blazer tanks though. what do yall think would be the best route to take?

You don't have to have an internal fuel pump. You can use an electric external fuel pump instead. Just get one that has an adjustable regulator.

The smaller Blazer tank doesn't hang down too bad, it just depends on how low you are going. If your laying frame, you might consider a fuel cell, or a custom built tank.

Re: Fuel system ?'s for an ls1 swap

i had actually knew you could run an external pump but had also heard bad things about them. i have a fuel cell but didnt know how hard it would be to modify it to work. the fuel cell actually isnt but 1" deeper than the saddle bag tank and i thought the 87 fuel pump might would work. thank you for the quick response also n2trux

Where do your lines come out of the fuel cell? If they are bottom feed it's a piece of cake. I don't know why it would matter if the pump is internal or not. You need to mount it as close to the tank as reasonably possible, since they push better than pull.

Re: Fuel system ?'s for an ls1 swap

the outlets are on the top. i bought it before i decided on doing the engine swap. i was thinking that the 25 gal blazer tank may be my best solution if nothing else for now. would you just happen to know how far the blazer tank sticks down below the frame?

No far at all, and this is a 31gal tank. You would have to be PRETTY low to get it to drag. It is higher than the framerail under the cab. Now if you make it where the rear is lower than the front, well....

Yes I do sell them but Goodmark never keeps the 25g EFI in stock so it would have to be ordered.
