Motorcycle valve stems? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I know it sounds crazy, but I just got my new wheels and I'm trying to find a valve stem that meets my "vision". The wheels have a light silver painted center and a machined lip. I don't want to run chrome valve stems or caps, but the automotive selection of aluminum valve stems is lacking.

Does anyone know if it's possible to run motorcycle valve stems on automotive wheels?

I found these, and they're freakin' expensive, but would look great (with an aluminum cap of course).

Are those the TKO torque thrusts? They look sweet. The valve stems are cool. Which one were you thinking about getting the 90 degree or straight?

Thanks! They are Torq-thrust Originals, 17x8, 4.5" backspacing. I really like them. Can't wait to get tires mounted.

I'd go with the straight valve stems.

measure your valve stem hole and thickness of the rim have it written down then call(telephone required) the parts place and ask the specs on the valve stems

NOW, does anyone have an answer to my question? That's what I was going for when I asked it in the first place.

Yes, most aftermarket wheels use the same .453 stems...

I cant wait to see em. So you are going the same size on all four corners? Going larger than 15 inch is sooo against my rules of building our trucks, but I think yours is finally going to be the one that changes my mind...hurry up and get those stems.

advance auto part sells metal stems most car and truck wheels use a .453 vavle stem

If you are not wanting the chrome look and all you can find is chrome, take a scuff pad and scuff them down... That gives chrome a nice brushed aluminum look... I have done it alot of times... You will like the results.

Yeah, I've got the same size wheels at each corner, but different tire sizes front and back. My rear tires are gonna rub on the outside, so I'm gonna have to modify that area a little bit.

I'm really happy with how they look, and I'm glad other people like them too.

Well after all that hoopla, I just ran plain 'ol rubber valve stems. I went through my collections of photos from GoodGuys and other local shows and looked at the valve stems other people had. The black rubber ones were the least noticeable to me. What do you think?

and with the money I saved I can get my first tank of gas :P

Love the wheels, and the black valves stem look "period correct" imo..

How about some picts of the whole truck, do you have a build thread going?
