Using 1991 Corvette Wheels on 55 1st series/ S10 frame swap

I picked up an 85 LWB 2wd S10 to use the chassis under my 55 1st series. I understand that I will need to use a wider 4x4 rear axle and spacers on the front. I am wondering about wheel selection. Does anyone know if it is possible to use stock Corvette wheels, such as the 1991's? They are 17" x 9.5" w/ 7" to 7-1/2" back spacing. I assume that I would have to run an even deeper spacer on the front, and possibly a 2" spacer on the rear? Also, I have seen mention about using G-body front suspension components since they are supposedly wider (?), negating the use of spacer on front.

The G body components are identical to S10, GM used these parts to design the S10. The crossmember and center link are narrower on the S10 than the G body. I don't think the newer vette wheels like you are talking about will work. There is too much positive offset on them, thus you would need a 4inch spacer or more in the front (and that's just crazy). You may also need a spacer even with the 4X4 axle as Danimal had to do.

Yea, I figured out on my own that the Vette wheels ain't happenin'. SO... as far as the front...The crossmembers are welded in, aren't they? I would have to cut out a G body crossmember, cut out the S10 cross member, then weld in the G body cross member (???) I think 2" spacers would be easier (duh), and still safe. I picked up an S10 4x4 rear axle today from a local yard for $150...and so it begins...
