Hey good news , the drinks are on me ,I'm a millionaire

According to some guy from Nigeria, Imagine that , Nigeria!, My long lost uncle Bill ??? it's a common name. anyway Bill and his whole family were killed in a tragic!!!! car accident in Nigeria and according to Mr. Harriba ,If I help him procure the money uncle Bill had ($10 MIL$) before the Gov't there gets it, then i'm a guaranteed millionaire. Damn and I never even got to meet Uncle Bill. Oh well what are you drinking. I think i'll keep working though just because I would miss my friends there at the Nuke plant and besides where else can I get free Radiation treatments.

PS= I know i should have posted this in the JOKE section.

I'v gotten those emails before, I sure hope nobody would ever believe that and give them their account number. They wouldn't ever get much out of mine since its empty most the time anyway. But I mean c'mon, you gotta be pretty dumb to actually believe something like that you got in an email.

just have him send you a check. when you get the check, cash it, do not deposit it. if it goes through, then you've got cash, if not, what did you lose? just dont give out an account number.

You have to be careful with that too. My buddy was sent a cashiers check to purchase are car from one of these scammers. The check was for 1500 more than he asked to cover cost of shipping. He called the bank and gave them the check number and it came up good. He went in to cash it, and was greeted by the bank manager and a security guard. The check was a "real" check. It was originally purchased in the amount of 20.00 and changed to 6200.00....

anybody who hasnt gotten those emails isnt posting their email address on public forums enough!! come on guys post your email addresses!

with my old address I was to the point where Id get around 100 spams per day but I had that account for years, from way back before spam was a real problem.. my email address has been posted on sooo many archived mailing lists (netbsd, freebsd, etc) that it was doomed from the start..

anyways I changed to a yahoo webmail address and now im real careful about where I put my email address. NEVER on public posts is rule #1

These scams originated in Nigeria, and are called "419" scams because of the Nigerian penal code under which they were originally prosecuted. These days most of them seem to be run by organized criminals in western europe.

And even really smart guys (and fellow scammers) get taken:

Harvard prof scams $600,000, then hands it to 419ers

with my Yahoo email account, i get on avgerage of 150-200 spams per day with this one account. if i post my email publicly or to sign up for anything i always use that one. i also have another Yahoo, 2 hotmail, budweiser, used to have 2 netscape, and then my isp (Cox).... the others have been used for different purposes throughout the past decade for whatever reason (nothing illegal)
