All fenders the same?

Sup folks,

I have a left side GMC fender, unsure of the exact year model but it's one of our series. Picked it up for 15 bucks so I couldn't pass it up. It has a side marker hole so I'm assuming it isn't '67, right?

Anyway, I don't need it, I DO need a right side (68 GMC) and was thinking maybe I could find someone to trade with and just have the cost of shipping to pay. But I need to know if there is a difference from year to year or a difference from Chevy to GMC so I can be sure I'm trading for the correct fender.

Any help is greatly appreciated,
Tug

1967/68 are the same and 69-72 are the same. So you cannot install a 67 or 68 fender on a 69-72 or vice versa. You can however swap out an entire front clip including rad support

Fantastic info Dubie. Can you tell how to tell 67/68 from 69/72 so I know what I have?

67/68 Has A Curve On The Front Of The Fenders That Act As Part Of
Your Grill Surround, A 69-72 The Grill Attaches Directly To Fender.
* THIS IS FOR ONLY, NOT SURE ABOUT THE GMC FENDERS.

REPRO'S AS FOLLOWS

FIRST 67
THEN 69-72
LAST 68-72
LAST ONE IS ALSO 68

Thanks guys, it's as clear as mud now. So all GMC fenders 68 - 72 are the same. . . ?

Luckydog, I have a drivers side fender I want to trade for a passenger side fender. You have a passenger side? The one I have is rust free except for minor surface rust, has original paint as far as I can tell but I haven't investigated past the surface. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow. Can ya PM pics?

Yes I have a decent passenger side fender. But it does need a little work, it's not perfect. I will try and get you some pics tonight.

I bought this truck a little over a month ago and still have a few questions. The truck is a 67, but the PO has obviously put the 69-70 grill and hood on the truck. My question is this, are the fenders from a 68 or are they the 69-70 style? I doubt this because if the whole front clip was replaced I think the hood would be more flush when closed. I appreciate any help.

I am pretty sure they are 69-72 Chevy style fenders. The 67-68 are differrent to allow the grill to mount inside of them so to speak.

Those fenders are from a 69-72 Chevy. There is a slight difference in 69-72 GMC fenders from the Chevy's too. About a year ago, someone posted pictures showing the difference between the GMC & Chevy - it is just at the front edge where the grill attaches.

If you look at the pics LUV posted, notice the 67 & 68 fenders slope down in front where the 69-72's are more flat.

Luckydog, I should note that shipping costs may be prohibitive for me as I am not currently working, I haven't checked shipping costs, mainly because I don't know where I would be shipping. There is a UPS store in town, I suppose I could haul the fender up there and get them to weigh it and give me an estimate?

I am expecting a check within the next month so if we don't close the deal right away maybe we can do it then if we are both still of a mind to do so.

I am trying to straighten the passenger fender that is on the truck now but it ain't workin too well. Best I can tell the bumper was "bumped" on the passenger side. The bumper went in and bumped the lower part of the fender which put several wrinkles in it right above the wheel. Getting all those wrinkles pushed in and pulled out is proving to be more than my limited knowledge and equipment can handle. I am only so determined. A nice straight fender to bolt on would be nice even if it has some rust.

Anyway, I am still working on getting the pics of the drivers fender I have. I'll PM them or attach them here sometime later.

69/70 CST trucks had wood trim, and you could get the same trim with a black insert on any model 69/70 truck.
Other than holes, (trim and badges) there is no difference between 69 - 72 Chevy fenders.

Tug, my fender is still on my truck, and I tried getting it off today... I guess thinking about getting it off is easier than actually getting it off. lol But it is rusted through in front of the wheelwell, so i dont know how much this fender with help. And I just noticed your location also. I doubt it will be worth it for you.

But I would still be interested in your 67 driver fender if you will cut me a deal to cover the large shipping cost? Thanks. I probably won't have the cash until the end of next week either.

Nah, you are right, if it's that bad rusted I don't need it.

I will gladly help you get the one I have IF it will work for you. Don't think it's a 67 though, it has a side marker. Still workin on getting those pics, may be tomorrow now.
