I realize this is an old thread, but axle codes seem to be a mystery to everyone here. You state here that these are posi codes for 1972. Does this mean every gear ratio or only 3.07?
I'm trying to find a 3.07 5 lug rearend, and it wouldn't hurt my feelings for it to be a posi.

I think it should reach sticky status if someone posted all the axle codes for 1967 through 1972 including posi status, year of the code, etc...

My own research indicates that all 1971 codes start with a T, and 1972 codes start with an R. All pre-1971 codes are two letters instead of three.
I've found most of the pre-1971 codes, but everything after that seems to be secret information, or nobody really knows.
Thanks for your time.

These would be for all ratios. The 3.07 would be RHB. I have all of the codes but I don't know if they would be readable if posted them because of the way I saved them. I guess I could try posting them in a new thread and see what happens...

Re: Rear End Code

That would be sweet. I've searched all the threads for code definitions, and only found the most basic common ones. I've found listings for all the 1967-1970 codes, and even a listing of all the 1971 codes, but nothing on the 1972 codes. If you start a new thread I'll contribute what I have if you don't have them all.
I can't believe how many people have asked, and got minimal responses, or none at all.
Most only want to define one code for the individual. 90% of those are common codes they could have found easily if they would have done a search.
I think if someone made a point of collecting all the codes and put them in one place, many people would be very pleased.
Thanks
