has anyone installed molding other than clips?

Anybody ever installed your molding with something other than the clips?

There is at least one member that has installed side trim by using 3M trim tape on the back, adding a spacer, then 3M tape again to stick it on the body.

My first 64 had the trim held on with sheet metal screws when I bought it...
