I think I am going to sell my 5.3/4L60 Jimmy

Been out of work since the first of the year and it doesn't look good for the rest of the year. So before I HAVE to sell it I think I am going to try and sell it. Pretty straight and a decent driveline. I won't sell it for less than $17,500, any less and I'll keep it.

Soo any thoughts?

Looks good. Best of both worlds, classic look and modern drive train.

I think it's really nice, but the price might take a while to sell. Not saying it's not worth it at all...just may be a while to find a buyer.

I think its sharp and I like the hubcaps, but I think a slick set of truck rallys with clean bands and centers would appeal to more buyers

Sad to hear you have to sell. Where on east coast are you? I'm hiring and if you did that build yourself it shows a lot about a persons work ethic.

Curious what mpg you get with that drivetrain

$17,500 is too low. Hope you figure out a way to keep it.

Wow, I'd love to have that one to compliment my LS blazer. Hope you can keep it, otherwise good luck with the sale.

Dont do it! go work somewhere out of your field and keep it. although 17500 is a good deal for a clean blazer. Post it in AZ, guys are buying them up out here. A guy that was trying to buy my top just sold his with a clean interior and original drive train for 16,000 with out a top lol. bump up your price and post it in PHX.

Sorry to hear about that and hope it works so you can keep the Jimmy. What's the interior like? SPID?

I am an electrician just south of Boston. There is just nothing for work in this area. Last year I worked 2600+ hours piping and wiring the new Craisin line for Ocean Spray cranberries. I was one of the last employees to be let go. I am a very detail oriented professional worker. Too bad not all employees are looking for that. I am also 52 which doesn't help. They are supposed to build 3 casinos (1 in my area) within the next year but until you are working, its all just hopes and dreams?

I get 15-20 MPG and it is fun and relaible!

Interior is OK? Doorpanels are very nice scrolled door panels. The seats are the original parchment/white that I covered with wet okole seat covers for weather protection. There are no rips and tears in the seats but if I were to keep it I would recover the seats in the black scroll patern. The dash is a freshly restored tach dash with the mileage showing the 5500 miles on the drivetrain. The engine had 5 miles when I bought it (fresh pullout of a dammaged 2005 suburban sitting on a shelf at spaulding automotive for years) the transmission and transfer case were completely rebuilt at the time. The Jimmy has about 135,000 actual miles on the vehicle. I also added a very nice rebuilt tilt wheel column.

The SPID did not have the tach, tilt, etc.

Thanks

Any thoughts? I have a few to offer. The first one is consider moving to a region that has work. Despite the continued slow economy in many regions, there is an abundance of job opportunities in others. I understand your probably reluctant to move, but consider long distance commuting as an option.

If your really wanting to determine the value of your Blazer it needs to be posted in the Whats it Worth Forum. If your truly trying to sell it in should be in the Classifieds under Trucks For sale.

Just a polite FYI- If this post continues in the direction its headed it will be closed.

My dad is 85 so moving at this time is not an option. There is work on the horizon but could be a year away.

I never asked what its worth, I just posted im thinking of selling and what I have to get out of it. I wondered if some members thought I was crazy, out of line for selling or what? I got some good feedback and apreciate it.

It is not officially for sale yet, I am working out the last details with the company that is going to help me. When it is officially for sale I will post the info in the appropraite place.

I am a paying subscriber who has taken the time to post a few detailed how to's and helped getting the LSX swap sub forum and an LSX info thread started. I don't believe I have broken any rules but if you want to lock this I guess there is not much I can do to stop you!

To me the Jimmy could sell itself - why not post it here on the board for sale before spending extra $$ on a commission for someone else?

How far outside of Boston are you? I have some friends that work up there and depending on what your skills are I can at least see what they have available. They work in the Lexington area.

Re: I think I am going to sell my 5.3/4L60 Jimmy

I spoke to this member and he certainly was not intending on selling or saying what's it worth. We all have a lot of love in our trucks and when we realize we may have to sell we certainly have friends here to express our feelings. We all have a love for these trucks or we wouldn't be here.

I wish you the best of luck as I am on the trades as well. The busy times are great and the slow are tough. It will pick back up, hopefully before you have to part with such a beautiful truck.

Hey Alien,
I am going to send you a pm on a possibility. Not sure if you were ever a veteran or not but if you are then follow the link I send you. I was in your same shoes back in 2009 and lost everything but I lucked out and got a federal job which is now allowing me to start working on my truck again after nothing for the last 4..
