I have a deal to buy an actual bench seat out of an 85 pickup for only $25. It has no rips or tears but is just covered with an ugly plaid looking fabric. I think I'm going to buy it and have it recovered but not sure what that will cost me? Any ideas?

Riz the cost to recover will vary depending on material used and quality of work. I would say as low as 125 and you could spend over 1000.00. I suggest calling shops in your area for an accurate quote.

If you buy a cover that just needs installed through LMC, I have been quoted as low as 150$ to put it on.

I just had mine done about a year ago, it was done in the factory style with vinyl, and he installed new webbing material under the foam and it cost me a little over $400. He even took the time to cover the trim pieces that cover the seat hinge in the same vinyl. I did repaint the trim for the seat belt holes after the picture was taken.

$25 for a good bench is a great price, your money ahead already. But like N2TRUX said, price can vary alot.

Buddy of mine quoted me 325 and that was the friend discount with material included.

There are several seatcover vendors that support this board. The going price for seat covers seems to be in the $300 range give or take. Replacing the cover is no big deal. There are plenty of tutorials on the Net. When you buy the seatcover, spring for the $15 install kit, which includes new hog rings and a hog ring tool. If the foam is in good shape, you're good to go!

What kcsa said, new foams are way expensive. Recovering isn't hard but takes patience. jcwhitney.com also has seat cover kits that aren't that expensive, if you decide to go the DIY route you'll only be out about couple hundred bucks and earn all the bragging rights.

From what I've seen, lmc, classic, brothers, etc. all get their interiors from oer and they're all around $200 for the (close to) oem kit. Rings and pliers included. I'd bet the forum contributors also get theirs from oer.
I bought mine from a local shop, also an oer distributor, and installed it myself. No prior upholstery experience. It took a couple hours but was not hard to do.

i bought a quality cover and had a professional upholstery shop install that and recover the headliner for $300

I just recoverd mine with seat cover from LMC. Still a few wrinkles but maybe they will come out.

Just set it out in the sun for a while and those wrinkles will come right out.

Is that cloth? Velour? ......I'm not looking for vinyl so much?

Its cloth, not real sure what you would call it. I was very impressed with it. It might be type of Velour. No sun today, just rain might try a blow dryer.

A shop did my seat. It cost $500.00. It is cloth and vinyl. I don't like velour. It does not look good after you sit on it a long time. And it does not last very long.

I had mine recovered locally with extra thick and dense foam for $250, but I doubt I could get it done at that price again. If I had it to do over, I would definitely buy a late model seat from a 2000 up Silverado or Sierra and fab some brackets to fit it in. I have seen these seats at junkyards in good shape for $250 +. The downside is that you will likely have a seat that sits up higher due to the extra height of the mounting bracket mods.
