Orientation of drum brake adjuster bar
I have the front drum brakes open on the passenger side. It is for a 1969 C-10 1/2 ton pickup. This is a look at the pushing edge of the auto adjuster bar.
And this is the way it was oriented to push the star wheel. Is this incorrect and the auto adjuster bar is from the driver side brakes? I'm not sure if the indented edge is supposed to stick out like that, or stick in towards the star wheel. If I had to guess it seems logical the indented edge of the adjuster bar would be sticking in toward the teeth of the star wheel that it's pushing down against. |

The levers should be stamped L or R respectively.

I've never heard a front brake shoe called a "slipper", it's the primary shoe.

What is the do-dad called that is in the center top that the guide plate and springs fit onto and that the shoes fit up against, and it also screws into the backing plate and spindle? I am parting out assemblies and I know some folks need those every now and then when they break. Are they the same part in front and rear?

The length of the anchor pin will depend on the width of the shoes, and on the offset of the backing plate. Not certain about trucks, but from sedan to wagon, the backing plates are different on vehicles because the wagons would have wider shoes on the rear brakes, generally the same as the front brakes. I'm talking about '60s in general, with all 4 wheels as drum brakes.
