First 72 project

This is my first 72 Chevy .. i bought this as a project to do with my dad ... the pics make it look kind of good haha ... i am going to redo everything ... i would like to know what you guys think about motor/trans and paint..

as of now there is a 396/350 turbo trans... .30 over with mild cam ... it is now ripped apart do to a bad lifter ... only had around 800 miles on it ... runs real good

the paint was done before i got the truck but is bad ! runs and orange peel everywhere ...

i would like to know what you guys think would be the best motor and color combo for this truck ....

also what your favorite wheels are ...

any comments feel free to write i could use any help you guys have

Re: First 72 project

FYI- gotta do cam AND lifters if youre replacing one of the other....
looks like a nice little short bed for PA....(rustvania) and the color is cool.. maybe sand and buff it out to get rid of orange peel ? put some wheels on it, lower it a bit and drive it....

Re: First 72 project

i know you should replace cam and lifters together but the tap started about a mile ago ... caught it at the right time .. there is no damage to the lobe of the cam... so im going to go cheep and just replace all the lifters and leave the cam ... only because i might change the motor in the near future..

Re: First 72 project

I always thought that the cam and lifters mated to each other and that you had to replace them all as a set. IIRC, replacing just the lifters could create issues. Change the oil, too, to make sure no metal particles left behind.
