72 Grill NOS or not how can i tell

hey all i need a little help here. i just baught a 71 72 inner grill thats suposed to be nos its got the part number molded into it (3990700) and the box has a mathcing GM sticker(dated 1981) the box itself was made in 1994.
but the thing im not sure of is the color of the plastic. ive never seen a new inner repo or nos, just the orginals on the truck witch looks severely faded compared to the new grey/silver grill. did these grills look this grey off the asembly line. any help is greatly apprciated thanks john from jersey

I think they call it argent silver, it should look like a semi gloss plastic- the repos look too shiney/glossy when compared to the NOS grilles. Was the box opened when you bought it? I don't have anything close to get oem number from but I can look later this afternoon- if no one else replies. Harold

NOS part number is 3990700 so your inner grille is a NOS piece. Hope this helps. Harold

thanks harold , its not shiny but man what a big differance in color brightness. but than again im sure the orginal paint on the sheet metal was a lot brighter too in 1972 box was opened baught it off ebay for 100 plus 20 for shipping . i thought it would go for much more.

The GM p/n is how to tell N.O.S on any part not in original packaging.
