Edelbrock carb upgrade ?s

Did my new tank install last w/e to get rid of my rust problems, so now I'll be looking (saving) for a new carb setup. The qjet seems to be on its last leg. Am pretty much set on an Edel 1406 but did see an Edel 1400 (max fuel economy) as well. I know many have the 1406 and like it, but what about the 1400?

Also, I'll be getting the EPS intake and gasket. Do I need to get throttle/tranny linkage or anything else for this upgrade? Sorry for all of the the questions. sb

Re: Edelbrock carb upgrade ?s

The 1406 is a good choice for a mild 350. Since the 1406 is a vacuum secondary carb, it won't flow any more fuel/air than what your engine can use.

The only difference I see between the 1400 and 1406 is the EGR provision, slightly smaller secondary jets and a lighter vacuum secondary spring.

Re: Edelbrock carb upgrade ?s

I drive my truck a lot on the highway and I'm hoping not to lose any mpg (currently approx 11) w/ the new carb. I've heard nothing but good things about the 1406, just saw the 1400 online tonight. Would I notice much difference economy wise between the two? tks again.

Re: Edelbrock carb upgrade ?s

No, I wouldn't expect that you'd see any difference at all. EGR is not a fuel economy function

Re: Edelbrock carb upgrade ?s

Yeah, I know. Edelbrock listed it as maximum fuel economy, so I was curious if there would be much diff between it and the 1406.
