59 guage cluster question
I took the guage assembly apart to clean it up before I rewire everything. Can anyone tell me if the glass/plastic face is held in with 4 rubber/foam pieces or if it's 4 beads of some type of caulk? Both clusters I have each have 4 nasty spots of black goo. Can't tell if it was caulk or very deteriorated rubber/foam. I'm ready to put it all back together and figure I'll just lay some caulk in there, but maybe I'm missing something.

Re: 59 guage cluster question
It's old foam/rubber. Must melt over the years and it leaves the black crap you talked about. Just clean the glass/plastic with glass cleaner and razor blade to remove the black goo (don't use razor blade near the numbers). You should look for some other rope filler/foam. Talk to a glass glazer, they could help. They have clear rubber shimms that could work. I don't think you should use caulk.
