Re: 2/3inch drop or 2/4drop ?

Trucks have about a 2" rake from the factory. That is to say they are 2" higher in the rear. Do you want it to sit level or keep that rake? Do you want a slight rake? A 2/4 drop would level it. A 2/3 would leave a 1" rake. Be aware that if your truck has original springs they have probably sagged and you may be upset with the amount of lowering the new springs will offer because the amount of drop is based on the original ride height.

Not trying to hi-jack, I think this adds to the OPs request: Love the look of your truck. Any info on what size tires you're running?

Re: 2/3inch drop or 2/4drop ?

Whats it look like right now? What size tires are you running? Are your current springs sagged? Lots of factors to determine the stance you are going for.

Re: 2/3inch drop or 2/4drop ?

Looks like a nice project Brian.....got a soft spot for black 71 & 2's ...lol!! With a 2 inch front spring....I'd probably do a 3 inch rear, then be able to use a lowering block to fine tune to get exactly the right stance I wanted....it would be less work to fine tune with the rear lowering block than if you used a 4 inch spring, then had to fine tune with the front spring to get the stance you want, cutting a portion of a coil to get to where you want. Pretty good job to remove the front springs.

liking that 37 chevy too!!

Did you use a front dropped 2 1/2 inch spindle and 4 inch dropped spring to lower the truck? I want to do the same drop as you have but when I called ECE they said my 255/70 R15's on 15 x 8 Rallys may rub when front wheels are cranked. My tires are 29.04 inches high and I notice your fronts are 26.56high and I'm sure yours dont rub. Do you think my tires will rub? By the way love your truck.

I used 2 1/2 drop spindles on front and 4" drop springs on the back. I did have to do a little grinding on the front control arms but very little. I did have taller tires on front but they did rub the inner wheel well so I switched over to the 245's.

Thanks 70cst. I can't decide if I want to lower the 71 or not.But I did get a set of sidepipes for fathers day that is going on it when I do a engine swap.

The 37 looks sweet also.

Re: 2/3inch drop or 2/4drop ?

If your undecided buy the 3" rear drop. If you dont like it make and add a 1" block. If you go with the 4" outta the gate you cant get back to 3 without a different set of springs

Re: 2/3inch drop or 2/4drop ?

Just get the 4/6 and be done with it!!

In all seriousness, the 2/4 drop looks good. I think 71-72 fleetsides look better leveled out. The 2/3 drop will still have some front rake to it.
