Kit exhaust systems-store bought

I am looking at buying one of the dual exhaust systems that can be put on at home. Does anyone have any input as to which ones go on with the least amount of mods? I am not picky about pipe size or a particular muffler, I just want to be able to put it on in the driveway without a welder or pipe bender. I have a swb 83 with a stock 305 and stock manifolds.

I have put the Hooker 2 1/4 system on a couple of trucks. You can get it at Summit. Pretty straight foreward, you will need to buy mufflers too. There are much more expensive/ better systems out there, but it works well for me.

Re: Kit exhaust systems-store bought

I just received a Dynomax header back system from Summit along with their UltraFlo muffs. Going to try and mate it up to Hedman long tube headers on my 80 K20 work/beater truck.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it won't be too painful an installation, but I'm sure I'll say a few choice four letters along the way.

I think I'll post up pics of the install, as there has always been some debate on which headers will work with a SM465.

Not to hijack this thread, but does anyone know what it takes to weld aluminized (sp?) pipe anyway?

My 69 has Dynomax, which I found out is the same as the thrush turbos, that I have used alot. They are very mellow. with a little snort when you get on it. Once again, cheap but effective.

Wire feed, with a respirator works great.

Summit also sells an H pipe kit cheap, if you dont want the boat sound. It mellows out the chug chug of a true dual, and gives a little more low end. All bolt in. Dont over tighten the clamps.

When you are done, and happy, you can get a muffler shop to weld the whole system. This will eliminate about ten clamps.
