1972 K20 rear leaf springs
Is this a factory spring setup? I haven't seen other helper spring packs like this and I can't find any mention of them on any replacement spring websites. I suspect this was added by PO. Does anybody else have this setup on 72 K20? Also, the main spring pack is 6 leaves, but all the replacements seem to say it should be 5 or 7 leaves. This truck has the 1G5010 heavy rear spring option on the spid. Thanks.

I think that is the G60 option for leaf springs.
The coil spring G60 option uses a quarter leafs mounted behind the axle.

Thanks for that. The PO must have changed it out since the SPID lists G50. I guess I'll just need to match springs for replacements, because I can't find the auxiliary springs listed on anybody's site, only the main pack.

My 72 GMC 1500 2WD had the G50 option that looks like yours. To me, it was a factory installation option. Your looks like the same style that mine was.
