"I like progress! Progress is good!" Putter
To borrow a quote from my buddy Putter...
I took a road trip this afternoon to delivery some parts to Putter and sneak a peek at the progress on the interior of my 71. Always great swapping stories with Putter! The interior is shaping up nicely to say the least! After checking out these pics versus the real live thing, I have come to the conclusion that I have got to either get a different digital camera, learn how to use the one I have, or go back to my Nikon 35mm camera for documenting the build. This camera makes the leather look a lot more rusty or red colored than it actually is. I was suprised to see that both door panels and arm rests have been covered, the rear cab wall panel is covered and in place, the headliner insert is mounted, the dash pad wrapped in matching leather, and the kick panels are very close to being completed. Looks like all that is really left is the seat, power windows, and the rest of the audio system. Oh, and the gauge cluster panel needs to be dyed. Check it out....

Wow! I always liked the tweed, and wondered why you were going away from it, but now I see why. This leather looks awesome!

Here is a shot of the passenger door panel without the armrest cover installed. It gives a closer idea of the color of the leather. Image the leather used in the Ford King Ranch models but softer and a little richer color.

Wow. You have given me an idea. I'm going to do the leather thing someday and have them put the Bevo logo in the headliner.

Re: "I like progress! Progress is good!" Putter
Your post is my inspiration now. I've finally decided on a color. I think I'll go with Chevy's sunset orange. It's a lot like burnt orange, and with that leather interior, would make a great truck to take to games.

subtle71, Where did you put the seams for the suede around the cab and did you use just spray cans of glue to hold it in place????.

And those kick-panel speaker pods are hand made, hand formed, hand covered....(You should see the components that are going in them....I spent less on my entire interior!!) Expensive, you ask?? I nearly choked on my own tongue when he told me the most recent sticker price....for the material ONLY!!! But, nice comes at a price!

Re: "I like progress! Progress is good!" Putter
That really looks great.
And, yes leather is very, very, very expensive. When I had the seats done in my vette and my camaro leather would have doubled the cost of the job. The new "fake leather" really looks like leather and that is the material I used. You can always go to a saddle repair shop and pick up some scraps and toss under the seat to get that leather smell.

67c10step: The headliner insert, rear cab wall pieces, and poor panels are Dano style pieces that I bought from RodDoors. c10crazy: The seams for the suede headliner pieces are between where the roof rolls down and where the shoulder seat belt mounts. There will be 1/8th inch thick molded ABS strip about 1/2 inch wide that will be wrapped in suede and cover the seams.

Now to answer your question: Dano panels package: $600 unwrapped, circa 2001 (maybe more today) peat colored Comfort Suede: $26/yard x3 yards Cinnamon Sorbet leather hides: $8/sq ft x178 (w/shipping & tax, $1563) Fientuft wool carpet: $280 We retail the Signature Reference kickpanel speakers (Polk SR6500) for $899. I can't remember what Putter said when I told him that, just that he froze and became statue-esque. Labor: $????????? I may be taking up a collection, but CS Soundoff has done an excellent job. Plus the exposure they will get will let people know that they do a lot more than just car stereo equipment.
