5.3L motore with 4l60e

I just acquired an entire drive train from a 2001 suburban, it unfortunately has a 4x4 4l60e. What exactly is stopping me from using that transmission instead of trying to locate a 4x2 one? What are the main reasons as to why I wouldn't be able to use it?

Different tail housings/output shafts, and the overall length is different. You can change that stuff out, but it does involve taking apart the tail housing and shaft, so most just try to locate a 2wd to start.

I did the same thing. Jus bought a tailshaft and housing combo for about $100 plus a few hundred to have the trans done with upgrades

Re: 5.3L motore with 4l60e

Here in Montana (the land of 4wd trucks) it is supper difficult to find 2wd parts. Before I found a 2wd truck to purchase (Luck) I was looking at 4wd engine/trans combo and my local trans shop said they would convert it over to 2wd (shaft and tail housing) for me for about $500. I thought it was a real reasonable option for meat the time.
