2011 iron block truck... Buy it or leave it

Wanting to do a lsx swap into my 72 c10. Been looking for a 5.3 for a while. Wanting to install a car intake, and aftermarket pulleys and brackets. Slim oil pan for pb dropmember clearance. Anyways... Found a totaled 2011 chevy truck with lots of front damge.

Knowns:
Most valuable bolted on things are gone (starter, coils, computer, throttle body etc)
Iron block
Front drive brackets busted

Unknowns:
Mileage (carfax says in 10/13 had 21k)
Could any internals be damaged?
Am i overlooking any major valuables that could be missing.
Power steering pump busted
Alternator busted

I can buy motor and tranny (basically going to cut frame in half in front of cab) for 350-400$. Ive read a lil about the newer motors and the few things to overcome vvt and dod. Since im planning on new drives and intake/tb anyways. Should i buy it or leave it???? Help

Just the trans alone has to be worth it. I did gen III 5.3 in my 68 and engine crank speed sensor and cam sensor location and speed signal i believe are different between gen III and gen4. Gen III are easier to integrate A/C, cruise is doable on either gen, etc. My lsx book of knowledge is loaned out now so i'm doing this from memory, but i would get it no matter what. Fuel lines?, motor mounts and brackets you can adapt to your crossmember if you can weld, A/C lines, air box?

if you're getting half a truck for $400, it's worth it.

Re: 2011 iron block truck... Buy it or leave it

I bought one wrecked like that it was hit so hard the waterpump shaft got pushed into the timing cover and cracked it, but no internal damage. I passed on trans because it broke the tailshaft also. Transmission guy told me it might have internal damage, and I already had a trans anyway. So look it over real good.

Re: 2011 iron block truck... Buy it or leave it

when you start piecing together all the damaged parts to fix it back, you could run into about the same expense as just buying a drop out that hasn't been damaged, not to mention the time/effort to find all the correct parts.
Sure, you could part out or scrap the rest of it......but that takes time/effort too.

I bought a motor years ago that had been hit in the front. Apparently the crank pulley had been hit hard enough to damage the motor intrnally.

just my opinion....
