Brake Pedal Bushing.....need help please..

Hey guys,

I have a 68 SWB stepside. My pedal was hanging up really bad. I replaced the return spring but didnt fix the problem. Im now replacing my brake pedal bushings. I have the bracket removed from the truck. Can anyone provide me with some advice, tips or tricks on how to remove the pedal arm from the bracket. It looks like the ends of the shaft are spot welded to the bracket. I didnt know if I can drive the shaft out or if I need to grind done those welds. thanks in advance for any help.

b

The shaft has a plate on one end that has a bolt holding it in place. I don't have a good pic handy, but once the bolt is removed the pin can be pushed out.

Re: Brake Pedal Bushing.....need help please..

hey guys,

thanks for the responses. I removed the pivot bolt and then just drove the pedal shaft out of the bracket. It took a few good hits with a hammer but once it broke lose is just slide out of the bracket. Bushings were defintely shot. I picked up the bushing from classicparts.com here is the info if it helps anyone. thanks again

I can't find the bushings either. I've gone to Classic Parts website and had no luck. Did they stop selling them?

Re: Brake Pedal Bushing.....need help please..

Classic is still selling them....actually it looks like the description on their website has changed. It says it for a 73-74 chevy. I looked over my orders...its the same part number for the one I bought for my '68. Hope this helps.
