Custom Phantom Grills??

Okay I was wondering if anyone was using a phantom grill? I've heard that these are soft and bendable, so could I take one from a bigger truck and cut it down to fit how I would like it? The phantom grills that they sell don't seem to look right to me, the fit too far into the truck(like too small and back too far in the fenders) Also, could you take some sort of mesh and put in there so you wouldn't have that unsightly hole in the core support and stuff showing through or would it block airflow? I know there used to be a member on here with a blue Lwb, that had a phantom grill but I haven't seen him for a while. Here's a pic of something the size I want. I don't have photoshop, so forgive me please?
