easier version old question

had ask about rebuilding tilt column, WHOA not going to happen. What i would like to do is get a good quality coat of paint on it. Is there a easy way to do this. It is out of the truck now. Is there an EASY way to remove the cover and bowl from the column jacket (sleeve) to at least attempt full coverage of paint. I don't want little pieces and parts popping out all over the shop. I been told by many friends I should use rubber tools, so any advise will not go wasted.
Thanks, Gary
