Barrett Jackson Scottsdale Oct 2024

Got to go to the auction on Friday and it was interesting to say indeed. Cannot complain about how BJ treated us. Tour bus with AC waiting to take us to the tents. All the tents were AC. About 95 degrees when we got there, yeah 95 in Oct.. If you were a drinker (I am not) there were drinks to be bought everywhere...People were tanked at 2pm...

All I can say for the vehicles is that if there is a demand, people will provide the need. Seen a lot of nice quality builds. Also saw many more lipsticks on the pigs... Pretty paint on the outside, hot garbage under the hood. Again, the "Supers" were on display with no evidence of being a true Cheyenne Super. Write ups on the windshields were laughable. Lot's of folks need to understand what "Fully Restored" means and it aint just a paint job.

Lots of 30K-40K range 67-72's on display. Many overpriced based on the display. Blazers were everywhere.

Did see a 69 Road Runner that sold for 22k. Once you got close up, you easily saw why.

On a cool note, Sammy Hagar showed up on Saturday and made 4.25 Mil for his car he brought up.

Didn't buy anything from there, but I did find me an "O-G" about 20 miles away. Pics coming once I get it home.

I dont know why I think this but it seems like BJ should be responsible for very accurate descriptions of whats going across the block. I guess they are just the middle man getting seller to buyer and taking their cut to make that happen. The rest is buyer beware.

What do they care? It's in their interest for bids to go high. One reason alcohol as noted is freely available, loosen up those inhibitions & the purse strings.

So an older gentleman around the corner from me took two really well-done older restored vehicles there. One was a 57 wagon that BJ estimated between 150-200K. It hammered for 85K, he takes home less because of the seller's premium. He was very upset. What really made him mad was that they pushed the vehicle through the line very quickly. No stop the bid, no war story, no celebrity endorsement. Car was well worth the money and he learned the lesson of putting a reserve on it. I don't know the process for BJ on reserves, but I did see a lot of trucks at the bottom of their add "No Reserve".

A while back a guy I know that used them was talking about the reserve pricing and with BJ it was a pain to deal with. He said Mecum was a lot better to work with when selling his vehicles.
