Internal door parts

Do you clean, sandblast, remove rust if you take any of the door guts out before you reinstall them?

I was going to run them thought the sandblaster, but was thinking that sand may cause more of a problem.

I don't blast them. I just clean them up by hand, lube all of the pivot points and channels and re-install them. Then again, I don't build show trucks, just drivers, so others may get more technical on them.....

Got it, not a show truck builder either. The blast cabinet seems like a quick fix, but just like the olden days, some things are best done by hand.

I’m doing the same thing and won’t blast them. That sand will get into the pivots, it’s so dusty.

I've been using a vinegar/water mixture to let them sit in for a bit, acts like a rust remover. Then I clean what that doesn't get by hand, and put a protective coating on and lube everything up. I made the mistake of blasting window regulator pieces once and it was more head ache then it was worth.
