Factory Tach in '66 Chevy Truck

Everytime I see a column mounted tach in one of these trucks, I cringe. I wonder if the owner's know how cool the factory tach looks.

I wish you could use them on the l6, but the were for the disel and v8, and they also had one with either vacuum or air pressure left of the speedo.

The gauges in my '62 have a spot for it...I think they were out of a heavy truck. I thought about putting one in it, but in only goes up to 5000 and my 327 see alot of 6000-6500...so I have an aftermarket one on top of the dash...The factory ones are cooler than heck though...

Re: Factory Tach in '66 Chevy Truck

I have a few factory Air gauges and a few Vacuum gauges that were in the left window. I read somewhere that the factory tach can be used on the six or eight. Something to do with the wiring or voltage. I don't remember. I have one on on of my factory 292 straight six trucks, so it must have been installed accordingly.

Where did you buy that tach? I would like to do that. I like stock looking gauges.

Tomsriv:

Try:

www.lmctruck.com
www.classicparts.com
www.bowtiebits.com
www.oldchevytrucks.com

These aftermarket truck parts suppliers carry the reproduction tach. I have acquired most of mine through local scrap yards and from eBay. They look cool when they are installed, back-lit and working properly. Good luck with your search.
