What do you do with your parts.

I've been wondering about this quite a bit lately. What do you do with your good usable parts that don't make it back on to the truck?

Re: What do you do with your parts.

Im making 2 clocks out of my old gauges. I picked up a clock kit from my local hobby store for 5 bucks. thought it would be better than tossing them. Im not changes the facing of the gauges just putting the clock hands in.

my 2 cents

Re: What do you do with your parts.

Theres a parts board on this forum. You have to be a paid member to post an add, but it's just a few bucks. I've bought and sold several items. For my experience, it's a great bunch of guys. Prices are good. Never had any problems.

Re: What do you do with your parts.

I usually give most of them to friends, the same friends that have given me parts over the years. If no one needs or wants them I list the stuff on Craig's List.

Re: What do you do with your parts.

Not a lot of usable stuff coming off of my truck! I took so much garbage off of it and put on stock stuff, it should be all but new. I did take out a 4X4 front axle and tried to C/L it, but no luck.

Red face Re: What do you do with your parts.

Pretty much like the others. Some gets saved, some gets sold and some gets given away or traded away.

The next time around after the current projects are done everything gets sold or traded off as I don't want to have to move it again.

Re: What do you do with your parts.

Im getting ready to get rid of my good used parts on Craigslist ,between me and the bodyshop doing my truck some have got to go.I was planning on using the 72 tailgates and the grill and grill shell as wall art but dont have room on the walls either .Im getting tired of moving stuff out of my way too so Chevelle parts may join the truck parts in leaving.

yea, id pretty much give away parts on that part of this forum, but i dont believe in paying for web forums.
and before anyone goes on telling me how this stuff costs money, i own two forums the same size as this, one with much more traffic, and i just pay it out of pocket, no ads, but if i did have them, it would more then pay for it.

I just sold all my spare parts for $560.
Now I'm looking for a welder to use on my truck!

Thats a good idea,

I'm keeping all my old parts for now and might pick up another truck to do once my current one is done and driving down the road, wife thinks it's hers for some strange reason so I'll have to do one for myself in the future.

Re: What do you do with your parts.

I try to sell my parts for low prices to help others afford their trucks, and it helps me get back some of that "wasted money" (according to my wife).

Just try living in a house where you are the only guy.
You have no opinions, and everything you do and say has no merit.
Why,..... I do "wierd stuff" like move my tires around on the same car, (how stupid) or drain perfectly good black oil out of an engine only to just put yellow oil back in, (insane).......oil is oil.
I have even been seen crawling under my old truck just to "check it out". Don't I know there's grease and dirt under there?
After all, it's OLD, not like a new car where there might be something new and good under there.

Guys are just stupid.

(wish I had a nickle for every time I heard that one)

When they were in middle school, they used to lay on the floor of my 57 when I drove them to school so nobody would see them getting to school in such a relic.

I know how you feel on that. I'm the only guy in my house. I think the whole wife, two daughters and two female dogs have me out numbered but at least the girls still like working on the trucks.

BTW, I appreciate all the replies. I just had to ask since I keep looking for certain parts and can't find them where I moved to but the stuff keeps popping up back where I moved from. I guess that is just how luck plays out. Worse part of all is I need one specific part to make my truck a roller so I can put it on a trailer to get it from kansas to oklahoma to have it for the winter.

So everyone knows since I did ask the question, most of my stuff goes to scrap because the stuff is so far gone that it can't be saved but I have listed stuff on CL for next to nothing and never have any calls.
