gauges

what gauges are yall running in the 47-53 trucks?

I was looking at doing a speed/tach on the left gauges and gas/volts/oil/temp on the right gauges.

Classic instruments makes a kit but its a clean $750.

anybody have an ideas?

I really need a speedo and tach which is screwing me up and limiting my choices...

Re: gauges

be bold go stock!!! i have some leftover housings that might work if you need (for free) i rebuilt mine for a couple hundred more than buying re pops. most of the suppliers have rebuild kits. you can always mount a tack under the dash...

Re: gauges

I just got the Autometer 5 inch Speedo/tach, and quad gauges from Summit Racing. They look awsome, and can be mounted in the trim rings.

I have been thinking about going that route; I wish someone had it reversed with the tach as the larger one and speedo smaller, I worry more about RPM than speed.

If your offer is good to everyone I could use a new speedo housing, I cut mine up trying to make something else work. Didn't work.

Re: gauges

so dumb question but the stock hole measures 5.25", so this fits a 5" gauge without any extra bezels or anything correct?

Can't get 2 - 5" guages in a 59 Chevy Bezel so the search continues. . .

We used Aurora gauges on my fathers project. I just checked their website for new stuff and they have a contest for FREE gauges.

The gauges for your '53 are sweet. Where did you get those at? Is the speedo electronic?

The gauges for the 53 came with a bazel as part of the kit, they also came with all the sending units.

I needed a speedo and tach so this set fit the bill!
They have different sending units for the speedo depending on which transmission you are running, I have a 4L 60 E and there was a Dakota Digital sender that was matched with the speedo.
I understand now that they offer a speedo that is powered by a GPS so you have nothing to hook up!!

Haneline was over at the Father's Day Show and they had them on display, you mean they stopped making them?
