1965 c-10

Hello everyone. I am a beginner here and think this is a great resource to have and hope it saves lots of us from making the same mistakes and also gain & share knowledge at the same time.
I Bought this 1965 c10 last year [sitting 27 years] and am going through things as I have time & funds.
Found front spindles, bought reman. calipers and new rotors [6 lug] That was last summer and now that I have it moving under its own power the steering dynamics ? feel wrong. When I turn sharp it feels like the tires are scrubbing?. The toe is correct but I am wondering if the linkages [tie rods, idler arm, pitman] need to be changed to match the new spindles? I can't remember what year they are?? I should remember but alas that old grey matter isn't what it used to be )
I am posting photos and hope maybe someone knows by site, I thought they may be 1971 but not sure? After looking at them again just now the lower ball joints seem tall too? I used what was on the spindles.
Any help would be much appreciated Thanks

Welcome...
You've got plenty of clearance at the tierod ends..Jack the front wheel up by the a-arm and turn steering lock2lock and check your clearances

Thanks Mongo < I realize I should have been more specific, the tires are not hitting anything, it feels like they are turning at different rates? if that makes sense, like one is toed way out when turning and the tire is scrubbing on the pavement?

Re: 1965 c-10

well the tires should be turning at different rates...its called the ackerman effect...google it and itll tell you all about it...your best bet would be take it to a alignment shop though

Yeah you are definitely right on that one, I'm sure its an ackerman effect problem.
I was hoping to find out what knuckles/spindles I have to make sure the old tie rods etc. would work. if not I would replace them and then have it aligned.
I think I will double check the taper in the knuckle arms just to make sure of the fit with the outer tie rods and if ok its off to the alignment shop.
I want to convert to power steering but for now I would like to be able to drive it. Also its close to winter here in the Land of 10,000 bad drivers and not much time left this season.
Thanks Greg aka Mongo )

Re: 1965 c-10

Get it aligned and see if it is better. These trucks will scrub some turned hard.
