Upper control arm shaft

I am trying to disassemble the uca shaft on my 64. I have tried and tried and cannot get them to budg. I've heated them and pb blasted them. I expected them to be a fight but not a war. Anybody have any tips? I took a picture because the nut looks like it's either over tightened into the control arm or tack welded. What do you think.

You need a really big vice and a bigger breaker bar.. They will come loose. Maybe a HUGE hammer.

I finally got my caps off of my uca. I HAD to go buy a vise and used my biggest pipe wrench with a lot of pb blast. Here's what I learned. Next time I will use a socket, probably an impact one or something strong. As my pipe wrench kept hitting the control arm and making things harder then nessesary. Next my work bench needs to be reinforced as I thought I was going to break my bench at times. Tomorrow I will reinforce my bench and tackle the lowers. Thanks for the advice.

I agree a socket that size would be better, but I didnt want to invest in on that size that may never get used again.

Now my next question is this. Is it better to replace the whole assembly or just caps and dust covers? The actual shaft is fine.

i wish i wouldn't have bought the shafts...waste of money. mine weren't bent or anything

I didn't know if there was any specific reason to change them that I wasn't aware of. Lol
