Did the air cabs have the manual fresh air vents in the kick panel? My 68 non a/c cab has them and ther full of $hit and rust. I was wondering if any one has deleted them or something like that. It seems to me just a place for leaves and crap to collect.

The AC cabs have the both air vents in them. The left side is manual, but the right side has a diaphragm control on it. Same leaf problem as non AC trucks.

I was wondering if anyone ever closed them off and if so does it create problems other than no fresh air from threr??

I would like to know too. I am smoothing my cab and I am thinking about ditching these too

Other than no air flow down there shouldn't matter much. I know WES just showld some stuff where he welded then up on the inside of the cab. I think if I was to do it, I would also weld up the cowl area, at least the down side to the floor vents, also to keep crap from accunmulating in a unreachable pocket of the cab.

I was thing of the same thing, weld and seal up on the fire wall and puttin speakers on the inside.

I seem to remember a previous post by maybe WES that said there is a major suppor that runs right behind where the kick panel vent is that does not allow speakers top be installed there.

IF you put the speakers where the air vent is after welding it all up you should be fine. I don't remember seeing the support that high up in that area. I think it's between the vent and the door opening. Correct me if i'm wrong guys

Here is a pic of the kick panel support. I cut a 3" diameter access hole. I am also going to drill a 3/4" hole through the verticle support to run wires for the power windows. I have hardbacked carpeted covers for the kick panels. So the hole will never be seen.
