1953 chev truck questions

Hey
I have a 1953 chev 1ton that was my grandpas that he pass on to me. I have a question as i dont want to keep it a a big 2wd 1ton. are the bodys the same as the 53 1/2ton trucks or is the body bigger. its a 1953 1430 1ton 6cyc w/ hoist on it. what m thinking is taking the body and putting it on another frame but i dont know if theres a huge difference between the 1/2 tons and the 1 tons or if it was all in the frame and axles. thanks for your time and help

Pete

Re: 1953 chev truck questions

The frame, the axles, the bumpers and the beds are different. The cab and fenders and all that sheet metal is the same.

Do you have the nine-foot pickup bed with a hoist under it, or is the bed something else. 1-ton guys are always on the look out for a good nine foot bed, so if you have one don't scrap it until you've offered it for sale a while.

yes i still have the bed with the hoist everything works still. so i can take the 1ton body and put it on another frame and it would be the same as the 1/2 tons? i know i will have to make new body mounts ect i just didnt know if the 1 tons were a bigger body or not. thanks

Yes, for the most part you can take the 1 ton body off and put it on another frame. Fenders get bigger for the 1 1/2 and up.
