Camper special bed WTW

Was wondering what a camper special bed should go for. It is off of a 1968 truck.

It also has the extending bumper, is that worth anything?

It depends on condition. They go from $200-$1,800.

Re: Camper special bed WTW

we need to know what you are calling a camper special bed.
Is this a normal 8 foot bed, that just says camper special on the side of the truck somewhere?
or
Is this a GMC truck with the added 6 inch section up at the front of the bed? (normally refered to as Longhorn bed, since that's what chevy called them, and to help prevent the confusion)

Re: Camper special bed WTW

It is the extended version... otherwise it would be just like any other pickup box as to value vs. condition.

So what is an longer box worth?

again, pictures and condition mean everything when puting a value on somthing.

post pictures and well all be as honest as possible and get you a pretty acurate idea of the value

Re: Camper special bed WTW

While they are worth a lot to the longhorn owners... we are far and few between. I actually had a prety decent one given to me, and 2 more decent ones offered that I had to turn down.
I ain't saying not to try... just don't expect it to finance the new shop you're planning on.
And yes... photos would help a ton.
if it is real clean, your location in the rust belt will help you out a LOT.

Re: Camper special bed WTW

First of all,I recall going through this before, there is no Camper Special. There is a packeage called CustomCamper and there are even badges if ordered. But it`s a longbed truck like any other. There would be no difference in the bed.I think yours had the tool & stowage door option(which is independant of the CustomCamper pkg).Chevy made a 133"wb pickup known as the Longhorn and,to make things confusing,GMC called their`s the CustomCamper. It`s confusing since GMC also offered the same CustomCamper pkg as Chevy on regular longbeds. So you could have an 8' truck with the CustomCamper option,an 8'6" CustomCamper w/o the CustomCamper option,or an 8'6" CustomCamper with the CustomCamper pkg.,Longhornman was assuming you may have had one of those beds since that would be the only bed that would be refered to by the name of CustomCamper. These longer beds were the 3rd size truck bed. They were 6" longer(approx) than a longbed and have a verticle seam where the factory actually added the extra 6" of sheetmetal. One of these beds would be worth more than an 8" bed to a guy needing a better bed for his Longhorn/CustomCamper or a guy wanting to put a pickup bed on a short cab`n`chassis (133") truck to make a daully or whatever.
Now,the problem is that a bed is so big it pretty much has to be bought by someone close enough to pick it up.
Do you have pictures? It would really help.

That`s cool. But,I`m still wondering if you are saying it is a bed with that 6" extension at the front.Did it have a wood floor?

Re: Camper special bed WTW

Was wondering what "WTW" stood for.

Condition is important. I am guessing they all had wood floors. I have a nice longhorn bed that I have been trying to sell for a while and it had a wood floor. May end up making it into a nice longer trailer. Good luck.

I've seen this a couple of times lately. I honestly can't come up with three words that would work, and wouldn't have to be posted on the dark side.

I've also seen "WTS" threads lately. I guess it serves the purpose of getting attention for your thread. I stop and look at them every time, since my brain has to re-process itself...

That is what I was thinking. On this board most members use the WIW (What's It Worth) I know it's semantics, but at the end of the day all of the word shortening is getting overwhelming.

Re: Camper special bed WTW

WTF?J/k...If it`s a steel floor then it`s not a Longhorn or GMC CustomCamper 133" pickup.Unless,it`s not a factory floor.
