Picked up a 1945 1/2 ton
Found this 45 other day was about a 5 hour drive one way but price was right and looks pretty solid . I’ve been over on the 60-66 section for a few years built a 65,61 ls swap and turbo etc and just finishing a 66 stock build . This 45 will be all new too me and will be doing some research and searching for fenders and other parts. My buddy has a nice 42 patina type build I’m thinking of keeping frame and upgrade suspension and maybe do a aluminum block 5.3. The parts search begins lol

nice start! the extra set of doors look like 39s, by the door handle. still fit! and isnt everything in canada 5 hours one way? haha
oem rear fender prices are banay nay for sure. last set in what i would call usable shape were over 600ea which is probably why yours are missing!

Re: Picked up a 1945 1/2 ton
Finally got the 45 in the shop. I’ll start on frame work and heidts MII front end install this winter. Got a TCI rear leaf kit for rear end. Picked up a 1980 10 bolt camaro rear end out of the junk yard few weeks ago and a bench seat. Rear end is posi 3:73 ratio just what I wanted for gears.

Re: Picked up a 1945 1/2 ton
For engine i was originally planning to use a l33 5.3 but this summer I had to swap the 283 out of my 66 for a 327 and I ended up with a spare set of 462 ported camel heads, big cam , roller rockers, intake and carb then came across a l79 short block for cheap so figured myswell build another 327 and use it in this truck, Was super happy with the 327 i built for my 66 it has the dome pistons , 461 heads, nice cam , quadrajet. It rips real good super snappy for what it is. For transmission id like to use a camaro t5 like i just used in my 66 but will keep an eye out for a 200r4 auto as well . Both are getting hard to find around here. I found a nice set of rear fenders actually ended up with 2 sets and sold the one set . Took along time to find rear fenders and a tailgate. Found the tailgate in Montana had a buddy pick it up for me along with all my suspension parts
