Questions for Longhorn Man....

Wasn't sure about Pm, ing you.
I found on Craigs list today, just listed, a GM good wrench 292 reman motor, less than a 100 miles from home.
I talked to the owner and he said it had gm Mexico on the block.I have some casting #'s
Questions are.........
Where can I find out about the #'s
Did 292's come with A/C and P/S?
Are 2 wheel and 4 wheel engine frame brackets the same, my truck has the 292 4X4 crossmember already.
i am doing that 67 swb 4X4 CST and want to make it look factory, orginal style engine(292) but want to be cool (A/C) and easy steering

Re: Questions for Longhorn Man....

1) i'd guess mortec.com for tracking the numbers. Being an inline, they may not cover it there. I usually start by just plugging them into a google search and see what happens.
2) Yes, but very uncommon...esp the A/C
3) I don't know, but I would imagine so being that an inline would be in the same location 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive...but again, that is an assumption.

Please, anyone feel free to correct me on this stuff if I am wrong... I am kinda lacking on my inline and 4X4 info.

Re: Questions for Longhorn Man....

I know 292's came with power and A/C...but as far as brackets differing from 2wd and 4wd, you got me on that one.

I know the V8's were different because they moved them back to the inline 6 position for drive axle clearance. Since the 6 sits in the same spot for 2wd & 4wd, I would assume they are the same frame brackets/stands. However, like Andy, I don't a whole lot of experience with the 4x4 sect.

Re: Questions for Longhorn Man....

Neither do I, I decided to return the 67 to factory, the only exception will be the P/S. The it is a well optioned truck and has a good running 350 but it came with the 292. Funky crossmember
