blinker will not work

I installed new LED’s on my 70 short step side. Yesterday but for the life of me the blinker will not work . The parking and brake light work fine just not the blinker. Also the blinker was working before I add the LED’s. any idea on how I could fix this problem?

Thanks

Re: blinker will not work

Did you install an electronic flasher? I don't know about your LED's but my kit from ECE came with an electronic flasher that was required. Just a thought.

Re: blinker will not work

Yup, you can grab it at any parts store.
It will be the same size/PN# as your stock one, just an electronic version.

Also, if after you get that done, it doesn't work still, spin the bulbs 180* in the socket, as LED's are polar sensitive.

I used an EL-12 flasher for my LED's.

Re: blinker will not work

The old mechanical flashers heat up from the amount of current that passes through... much like that single white X-mas light does. Once it gets to a certian temperature, it opens the circuit untill it is cool enough then it closes the circuit again.... like a circuit breaker.
Since LEDs run off of mili-amps, instead of multible amps, there is a huge reduction in current traveling through the flasher. Therefor, it doesn't get hot enough to open the circuit.
An electric flasher.... is contrilled electronicly.

Re: blinker will not work

does yours have a extra ground wire? you might have to hook those up. Also check the ground for the taillight harness make sure that one is still getting good contact.

Re: blinker will not work

there is 3 wires that go from the LEDs to the plug. When you say hook them up, What exactlly what do you mean?

Re: blinker will not work

mine had wires that ran to the plug and another wire just by itself. The extra wire was a ground wire. I guess yours doesn't have that.
