Check out the new Classic Trucks Magizine

Has any body seen the July issue of CLASSIC TRUCKS? The cover has a really nice '74 Chevy Muscletruck on the cover with a nice write up on it and also a '77 Engine swap on page 60. Check it out. Maby we might start seeing more of our trucks in these magizines. I think they are getting more popular all the time.

I read the article yesterday. Definitely a incredible piece. The LS1 swap wasnt bad either. I love how they call our trucks "late model"

Classic Truck just raised their year coverage to include our trucks a few months ago, with Kens truck being the first one they published. Tuckin magazine has also started to cover 73-87 alot more, and have actually been praising them and calling them the next 67-72. The secret is out, and I for one am happy! Yes, this means parts for our trucks will become more popular (and expensive because of it), but it also means our trucks will be more desireable and hopefully worth more if we should need/want to sell them.

I am sure they are going to be as popular as the '67-'72. Yes, they will increase in value. So hang onto the one you have because I have kicked mystlf many times for selling something and then wishing I keep the car or truck. For sure- "the next '67-72'!!!

As much as I like to see the 73-87 get coverage, I have to disagree about them being the next 67-72 trucks. That just doesn't make much sense. The 67-68 trucks are the truck equivilent to the 69 Camaro. They will always be the most popular of that generation. Just like the 69 Camaro, no matter how many times you see another red 67-68 you can't help but drool over it.


Regardless of my feelings toward the magazines misguided proclamation the 73-87 are becoming extremely popular. This is due to them being produced for so many years, and having much better rust preventitive measures being taken over the 67-72's. Unfortunately because of their abundance, I don't think they will see the increase in value that the 67-72 have in the past few years....

I agree with you Ken on the 67-72 comparison, their run was only six years compared to the 15+ for ours. I think the 73-80's will gain popularity first just because they had more unique options and look older (or more classic) compared to the "newer" 81-87's. I could be wrong on that, but that is just my prediction.

This body style is really growing on me. I started looking for a cheap beater truck about 6 months ago. I wanted a Chevy, since 350 parts are so damn cheap and easy to find, but to tell you the truth I just didn't like the look of these trucks at all. Obviously they're much more plentiful than any other old chevy truck, so that's what I finally found in good condition for a good price. Now that I've had it about 6 weeks, I really love it. I don't think I'd trade it for a 67-72 in similar condition if somebody wanted to.

It's kind of to each their own. I personally am not too wild about the 67-72's. I prefer the 73-87's because that is what I grew up with. I was born in 1974, and my dad had an orange 74 that I remember as a kid. He must have sold it around 78 or so. My Grandpa had a blue 76 4x4 for years. I loved that truck.

I think (hope) that they will be as popular as the 67-72's and get the same aftermarket and repop parts they enjoy also. It may take a while, but I welcome it. There were so many different variations on this body style it is pretty easy to build something different, too. My preference lies with Blazers, but there were crew cab pickups, long and short bed regular cabs, Suburbans, 2 and 4 wheel drive, etc. and with so many parts that interchange, it's pretty easy to build one. Just my $.02.
