Here are some progress pics of my 70 swb project. Rockers and kickpanels have been replaced and I media blasted it. Now for some color!

A few more, got my weld in panels from Infinityrides today. They look & fit great, time to fire up the welder. I sugest this type of media blasting to everyone. Saves alot of time and is a great to work over. JOHN

Yep frame is done also and painted in fact the whole chasis is ready for assembly. 383 is a few days from done also. Picking a color is taking the most time yet!

Top secret media, the guy who dose it will not tell. Check him out Imperial blasting technologies he's in South Holland il. This is the second truck I've had done by him. The finish product rocks!

Looks great. Can you give an approximate cost of blasting the cab and frame? I'm debating whether to send it out or try to rent or buy the equipment to do it on mine.

There's a company here that blasted a hood for me and I think they used media that was too rough. I won't use them again.

I would venture to say the price for blasting should be aroune $100-200 for a frame and $350 -$500 for a cab prices of course will be different amongst companies. Hoods are the most delicate piece for media blasting. The place I use can take the paint off of a aluminum can with out damage or heavy rust off of a frame. It pays to go to a shop that knows what their doing and stands behind their work. JOHN

I replaced the rockers, the bottoms of the kick panels, bottoms of the pillars, and a small amount of the metal in the floor right at the kick panel. I'm so anal about rust that I made it all go away. JOHN

Your cab looks great, but I can't help but wonder if any dust left from the media blasting may still be in some nooks and crannies,(like inside the rockers) and if that could lead to problems for you "down the road"Just my .02

I have the ability to completely rotate my cab upside down and I spent lots of time with and air jet to blow everything out at least 10 times. There is not going to be a problem with dust or sand. If you notice the front of the rockers are still accessable from the hole. My bigest concern was going to be sand left in the pillars, but its all out now from again, turning the cab upside down and lots of air pressure and time invested. After the paint job I will spend lots of time with a wond and cavity wax in these areas. Should never be a rust problem again, at least not for another 40 years or so. JOHN
