I thought i remember reading something somewhere that you have to or can you relocate the air conditioning pump on a LS1 engine. Is that true? I was mocking up my motor which is a 5.7L (not sure if there is a difference from the 5.3) and my air conditioning pump was pretty close to the frame and i built my frame to be pretty close to the factory frame specs. I would like to relocate it but not sure where you could put it because of the limited space on the front of the motor. Thanks josh

Theres different accessory brackets available for motors but the belts are different distance from the block. I believe theres 3 different types - vette, f-body and truck. The cadillac cts-v has very tight accessories but it uses the same distance as a vette so if you have an f-body motor you need to change the crank pulley as well. There might be some aftermarket vendors selling a relocation, your best bet would be a search on ls1tech, I'm sure theres an answer there.

One more thing I remember, apparently theres two types of A/C compressor with slightly different ports, one fits better than the other I think

I know that you can mount the AC unit without having to do anything to the frame, atleast I was able to. I did have to modify the bracket that holds the AC unit on but mine has over 10,000 miles on it. I still don't have it hooked up but it's on my list of things to do. I've read on LS1 tech that there are companies that make different blocks that come off the unit where the hoses fit onto and it's a pretty simple fix. I'll be watching this myself to see what you come up with.

Yes - street and performance makes a kit to move the a/c compressor to the top. Porterbuilt put one on Kyle's Blazer so you can see pics there. In another build SS68(i think) modified his bracket and used a smaller compressor off of a 2000 silverado and made it work...

I am having the same issue, so i looked into it.
