Smaller HEI cap?

I put an HEI dist on my 72 GMC 4X4 a while back and the cap almost touches the firewall. The distributed came off an 80s Chevy truck. Does anyone make a smaller cap that will fit?

Re: Smaller HEI cap?

It's pretty common for them to rub slightly on a 4x. If it is rubbing pretty hard you may want to check out the cab mounting and the engine mounts also

Not that I know of, also my valve cover is real close as well but they are taller then stock. It does make it alittle harder to install the plug wires on the back side.

Re: Smaller HEI cap?

Thanks all. Any recommendations for a cap and external coil? What do I look for? Or would it be better just to buy a new distributor?
