Hey all. So this has been bothering me lately.

So my cab is extremely noisy inside, how have some of you combated this issue?

My rocker panels are both shot and I think that's the biggest problem but I am not sure. Would replacing them help? Along with maybe sound deadening the cab? I'm just not sure, because the doors on the thing are so... Anti air tight? Haha they're in decent shape they just kind of suck.

So I guess I want to know what I should do? It's unbearable at 60mph for over 10 minutes

Rockers, door fit, door seals, wing windows, sound deadender, and rear sliding glass can all add to the noise.

I think those rockers and floors are a huge source of your road noise. Fix those, patch any other holes and sound deaden with a coating or adhesive backed deadener (or both) along with weather strip and you should be good to go! :-)

It looks like you could get some road noise from the floor.

I'd start out with replacing the rotted metal and putting a new weatherstrip on it. That's probably going to get you a lot closer to where you want to be.

Something else you might consider is where your mufflers are. If they're up under the cab, you'll get more noise from them as well.

Thanks for the replies! Can these trucks actually get decently quiet inside the cab? Hard to believe right now. haha

my truck is also noisy inside the cab, but all the trucks ive ever drove that have a relatively original stock setup are a completely different story. they got something right originally with these trucks, man those stock trucks ran quiet. NO vibrations and as little noise as todays trucks. i wish i knew what the factors were so i could make mine quieter.

Well on my former boss's 57 cab I shot four coats of rubberized undercoating underneath and four coats inside the whole cab minus the areas to be painted. Then covered it all in dynamat and I mean every square inch of it. Then a heavy jute backing with marine grade carpeting. All that and all new rubber its very quiet considering there is a 680HP BBC in it.
