Am i loosing my mind?
Hi guys! I was centering my rear end on my frame and after i got it centered i noticed that the pinion center is slightly off centered. It is a little more on the passenger side. It is right around 3/8" give or take towards that side. I measured and measured and measured some more and the rear end is centered but the pinion isn't. Am i loosing my mind and start seeing things? Thanks Josh

Re: Am i loosing my mind?
I've never paid much attention to it, but that's probably right. Have you seen the offset of some the ford 9" rearends? Some of those are 6-10" offset.

Re: Am i loosing my mind?
Yea, my 9" is 3.75" to the passenger side. The local experts say no biggie as long as the pinion angle is kosher.

It's a catastrophic success.

Re: Am i loosing my mind?
Its to keep the needle bearings moving around. If the driveshaft was perfectly straight the needles in the Ujoints would cut gooves from being in the same spot.

Re: Am i loosing my mind?
Thanks guys! That was exactly what i was looking for. That makes sence with them being slightly off set for the needle bearings. I just wish every thing was lined up straight for cosmetic reasons because now the driveshaft won't be perfectly centered in my tranny tunnel. I know that sounds stupid but I am kind of anal like that. Everything needs to be perfect or i go crazy.. So for a 9" rear end the pinion center is 3.75" off towards one side from center of the rear end? Thats crazy. If i am tripping out because on 3/8" or so can you imagine how crazy i would be if it was almost 4" off. Thanks for the help
Josh

Re: Am i loosing my mind?
Well my 9" is from an early Bronco, car models are different. I don't mind the offset, no one but the alignment guy has seen the bottom of my truck .
