Harrison Under Dash AC Unit

My 68 has this installed. Has a GM plaque on it. I believe it was dealer installed. Sticker says Harrison Air Conditioning, Lockport, NY. General Motors Corp. EBA-154A-69. SAE AIR-60. Can anyone tell me what the numbers mean? Thank you.

Re: Harrison Under Dash AC Unit

I've got a similar one like it in my shop in the corner. I ended up installing a vintage air system in my 70.

Re: Harrison Under Dash AC Unit

From what I came across when I was refurbing mine was it identifies your AC evaporator box and includes the date code and SAE number.

I have the same one, but mine's missing the labeled plate for the knobs. Wish I could find one like yours as well as a replacement vent!

I don't have that unit in my truck, wish I did! Personally think it completes our trucks interior! That look is

Re: Harrison Under Dash AC Unit

Has anyone updated this system with a newer compressor and new hoses? I need to get mine working again, and was hoping to upgrade these parts. Any suggestions - the hoses clamp on instead of threading on?

I have the same one in my truck...Like to get it going some day.

I would also be using a newer compressor.

The alternative to an A/C cab conversion! Hooking up a modern compressor and hoses shouldn't be to difficult.

It looks similar to the one that was in mine:

Mine wasn't really a quality piece.

Cool Re: Harrison Under Dash AC Unit

Wish I could help you out with this. My OEM compressor has sprung a leak near the back seam and I lose 134a quickly. Will be visiting my local AC guy soon for a solution; most likely a new compressor. Will ask about aftermarket stuff and let you know. BTW, 98 degrees here today with 55% humidity. Did someone say sweat factor?

That's exactly where mine is leaking, I'm planning to swap in a new compressor, but I wanted to get new hoses and eliminate the band clamps - they just seem to be a potential problem area in the future? Maybe I shouldn't be worried about that? Really looking forward to getting it done, the heat is rough.

Re: Harrison Under Dash AC Unit

OK, sorry for the delay but, the dealer was very backed up with work and just got my truck back today. Here are two shots of the replaced condenser. Needed a new dryer as well. Came with a 12 month, 12K mile warrantee. Hope this helps.

You should be able to get the inner glove box out ok. I got my new glove box in and out a few times without too much trouble. I had to remove the g.b. door first of course, then I think I compressed the box top-to-bottom slightly, and rotated the box out gently. If I'm not mistaken, I think I pulled the right side out first (side closest to pass door), then pivoted the box toward the driver side until I could slide the left side out. Kinda had to work with it gently so I wouldn't tear it up. All of that was done with the underdash unit still in place. Hope this helps, let me know how it goes...

The elusive "dealer-installed AC!"

I saw one in 2004 but didn't know what it was. It was installed on a truck in Charlotte, NC.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
