Updated Project Pics - '61 Vette Pick Up
I've uploaded some new pics to my photobucket account. The rear suspension relocation is complete (7" strech) and I'm mocking up the bed. The jury is still out on the tailgate positioning. I'll be grafting in the new rear wheel arches soon thanks to stllookin's contribution.
Here it is... |

Considering the great projects I've seen on this board, that's a huge complement! Thanks guys. A little positive feedback keeps these long term projects on track. I should have more progress to add this weekend

Re: Updated Project Pics - '61 Vette Pick Up
I like the wheel openings too. Dont wanna hide those Wheels! Looks like the front and rear wells match now. Kinda hard to see in pics. Just like all the pics of my truck over in the suspension thread, Pics dont do it justice! Ya need to see it in person! Maybe we need to get a Northern Cal/Oregon get together going sometime.

Re: Updated Project Pics - '61 Vette Pick Up
They will match. I might have to widen the rear fenders 1/2" so the front arches don't stick out more than the rear. I'm pretty happy with the look. Those are stock C5 wheels. They will be replaced by something bigger and shinier In some of the earlier pics I had the back wheels turned 180 to simulate a deeeeeep dish look (A-arms were off). Now they are supporting the rear weight so they're on right. There's definitely some room for offset though.
I was born and raised in Sonoma Ca so I still have friends/family there. When it's done I'll probably bring it down there for a visit. Valley Custom is doing some nice work on your truck and the full custom frame he's building. It's just reinforces the concept of no limits. |

Here's what the near complete front right fender looks like. You can also see the rounded door corners, shaved driprail, shaved handle, filled hood seam, streached bumper (not filled in yet), and flipped grille center section.

Re: Updated Project Pics - '61 Vette Pick Up
Thanks guys It's been a long term project, but the momentum is building. I plan to mock everything up to the point where I can run it up and down the street to work all the bugs out. Then I'll take it apart and finish everything with powdercoating, chrome, paint, polish, etc.
I've added a few more pics of the rear fender slicing and dicing... here. |

Well, I AM a big fan of these trucks and I really appreciate what you're doing with the whole project. From the concept of marrying a Vett with a classic Chevy truck to the execution and creative problem solving. I absolutely love artistically manipulating sheet metal to express your dream while at the same time, keeping the destinctive look of the '61 Chevy Stepside recognisable. You don't have to be a '60-'66 Chevy truck fan to love this one! Personally I like the stock look for my taste (the REAL "Old School"), but my hat is off to you my friend! What a great job!!! I guess what the grabber for me was: All this in your garage at your house!!! That's my kind of guy! here's to ya!!
