Is there a number stamped into the face of the cylinder where the key goes in? LockDoc

If there is and you know the brand name of the cap you should be able to go to a full service locksmith shop and get a key cut for it from that code number. That or maybe call the company that made it and get a key for it through them. LockDoc

Be careful. I tried rippin one off due to no key. Now have half a gas cap in tank bottom. Gonna get it out as soon as it gets warm.

Yup...probably be able to do it with a Google search to create and use a couple of properly bent paperclips....
Don't let the wife know though...otherwise you'll be replacing all your house locks with high-dollar secure locks! |

Re: Lost the keys to my gas cap need help!! lol
I lost the key to the locking gas cap on my '75 Corvette several years ago. I drove it to the local locksmith shop and she took a blank key that fit it, inserted it and turned it back and forth several times. She pulled the blank out and went in side and hand filed the key based on the tumbler marks left on it. It took here about 5 minutes and she had a working key that unlocked my gas cap. It was a good thing because I don't think I had enough gas in the tank to get back home
I was pretty impressed with her ingenuity. I'm still using that key today. |

That's called impressioning a key. I'm sure she had to make a couple of trips back to the car to re-insert it to re-mark it, as she filed it. I've made a few like that in my day.... LockDoc
