Cast Iron Hearders Finish?

What's the best way to make cast iron headers look good, can't afford tube headers right now.

cheapest way is to blast em and coat them with charcoal grill paint. you,ll be surprised how long it will last. also use NEW grade 8 bolts & hardware with install.

I got Eastwood's Factory Gray High Temp Coating that I put on my factory ram's horns. That should last a while too, it has on my exhaust manifolds.

WRAP MAKES your pipes go bad quickly cauz it holds moisture.

Thanks guys, Mrein3 what process do you have to go thru to apply the "Eastwood" coating. Do you have to sandblast first?

It is funny you should ask this question at this time.
When I did the ram's horns on my truck, I simply chucked a wire wheel in my cordless drill and brushed off the rust. 4 years later the manifolds still look good. They could use a touch up which a co-worker says he simply does on the car with the Eastwood's product.

The reason I say it is funny you ask now is that I have in the last 4 years purchased a sand blast cabinet. Just this past weekend I was spraying a stock exhaust manifold for one of my Chevelles. I'm thinking that if a wire wheel worked as good as it did, it should work better on sand blasted pieces.

The coating is runny. I hung the manifolds from a string from the rafters and had a piece of cardboard on the floor to catch the drippings. When I bought the coating from Eastwood's it came with a couple of cheap foam brushes.

I found a picture of what it looked like BEFORE I put the engine back in the truck.

And a quick caution note. I believe the descructions supplied with the high temp coating said to run the engine for 20 minutes outside because the fumes off the curing paint may be toxic.
