Option Sheet Translation Please...

Here is a pic of the options sheet from a truck I was looking at buying. The truck is equiped as follows: cheyenne super, 400cid, 400trans, tach, vacuum gauge, speed warning,tilt wheel,am/fm, houndstooth interior. My question is if im reading this sheet correctly this is not even a true cheyenne super and alot of these options did not come on this truck from the factory? I am curious about the options listed specificaly the floor board one and the custom comf & conv eq? If you are familiar with these please fill me in on what you think. I was just trying to determine if this was originally equipped with what it has now.

Floor option was that it came with a wood floor in the box.

The custom convenience package was a lesser combination of a trim package than the cheyenne...so its not a true 71 cheyenne shortbox..but a clone...seems like he knew what the good stuff was for option though..sounds like a decent package now installed.

Glove box sticker shows a 1971 short box 400 BB automatic AC truck. not a bad package to start with.

It depends on how much you want to know about originallity.

Did it come with a speedwarning..well no..was an option only till 1969, still a nice item to have.
Could it have come with a vacuum guage..nope its been added out of a 3 ton and up...but there a sought after extra also.

The tilt, houndstooth and am fm were all available in this year of 1971.

If I had the same truck to start with I'd of put those same option in also to spruce it up ..and probably more. Whats installed is still correct for the era..so I wouldn't complain. Find some bucket seats now and buy it if a good price.

thanks that helps. but if it was equipped with tilt, houndstooth, and am/fm would it be listed on the option sheet. Don't get me wrong it s a *****in truck but with an asking price of $27995.00 I think it should have been originally equipped with those items.

Sounds like a nice truck with a little "hybrid" action goin`on.On top of what Rod said,if it had been a Cheyenne or Super the front chrome bumper would have not been itemized.The comf & conv equipt means you`re up to a CustomDeluxe in`71.Some said Cheyenne(Super) and some said CustomSportTruck equipt.It was a CustomDeluxe,also,because it had black "cloth" trim.Personally,I like finding CustomDeluxes that are optioned-out better than most Cheyennes,like that one.I guess it`s had the carpet/headliner/tailgate band added,too.(woodgrain belt?)

I agree Ron, sounds wicked, but that price is a lil steep, but it is also
supply vs. demand, and one mans junk is another mans gold, I could
see myself paying that for a truck, but it better be a show stopper

I just love those blank repro option stickers don't you? Drag a plain-jane long wheel base truck out of the woods, shorten the frame, add a bunch of goodies, buy a $5.00 blank option sheet and you've got yourself a one-owner, all original, Super Cheyenne with all of the nice options. I'm not saying that this is the case but it's been done more than once.


For $28K I'm gonna need the original window sticker, bill of sale, protect-o-plate, and a sworn statement (written in blood) from the original owner.

Ain't it a shame that there are people who think we'll buy anything?? The "old car folks" are known for their love of old cars/trucks, yet there are some of them who have really deep pockets and can afford to pay whatever the asking price is, and that makes it difficult for those of us who are financially challenged, to compete with them for those things that we really want. Thank goodness for the aftermarket.

I'll take a $1500 dollar base model any day, then you can build it as you wish (clone or mod) without having the wrath of the puritans come down on you.

It`s an originally nice truck!Just not a Cheyenne,that`s all.The interior could be changed to Parchment and recover the seat with the orange tartan plaid inserts and it would be a Big Block Shortbed Highlander.Alot cooler than a Cheyenne in my book.
I`d have to see the whole truck and know the whole story(seller`s)to judge if it`s worth it.It shouldn`t be offered as an aoriginal Cheyenne,for sure!Like I said before,I like nice trucks in all trim levels.A`71 Custom/10 could be a Short Fleetside,402/TH400,posi,a/c,chrome bumpers,sport mirrors,tach/tilt,am/fm/8-track truck.A Cheyenne could have an I6/3spd,no a/c,am radio.

Oh BTW OldSkool71,I really liked the`71 you sold.That`s what I`m talkin`about!

I just looked at my option sheet.. that isn't a hydro vac booster, that is a normal brake vacume booster. Who ever was on the typewriter that day was sniffin glue.
Same option code as the booster on my one ton.

Yeah, for 25 Grand, it had better be straight, clean, original and highly optioned, highly desired model; not to mention fully papered.

That option sheet looks awfull clean to me. No peeling, no rips, no dirt. And now that I see the booster "mistake" I wonder if its not one of the repros filled out by the seller? Just a possibility.....I certainly don't know for sure

I've had/have option sheets that clean. Must have been awesome with fonts if this is madeup. I think I have seen several with "hydro" boost brakes. "Hydro" is water though as far as I know. Lets see some more pics of truck. Should be a real nice beauty. If really nice would be hard to build for a lot less. I would like to see someone itemize reasonable parts costs list sometime and then pick stuff off of it to see raw cost of a "restored/restified" truck.

Why would you have to be a whiz with fonts? All you need is a thriftstore typewriter, and an Ebay blank RPO sheet an wiz bang boom...You got yourself a fully optioned CST.

I have seen quite a few redone and I could tell them all. The originals all seem to have same font type and have the "vintage fuzz". I would be interested to read what would work the best. It would be great to do this on a PC also. With todays technology it seems real possbile.

My guess on this truck is following several opinions above. Truck started out pretty well optioned and then made better. I like to see cab vin, frame vins and glove box door match. Can't we order the kit that would show all specs of a particular vin as built? Called a "restoration kit" I beleive.

The standard IBM-type on a typewriter is the exact type used.That one looks real to me.If it was a reproed counterfeit,wouldn`t it be altered to list the options as the truck appears?

That one is in real good shape becouse it got the plastic layer over it. My first truck had that and it looked brand new... but the plain paper ones always look like death.

Thanks for the comments, all were valid and very helpful. I've decided to pick this one up after the holidays. Here are a couple of pics let me know what you think. Also I will be selling my one owner (prior to me of course) 72 Cheyenne Super SWB to make room for the 71 if you know anyone interested.

All that chit-chat before and now,pictures!I figured from your other trucks this would be one wicked truck.Yeah,it`s built,made-up,not original,...I call it "hybrid".On a job like that,it could have started as a frame and a heap of parts.It`s a custom with an "original" theme.
