"New" bed not lining up?

I have a square body pickup bed trailer that had a horribly rusted out floor and bed side. I have no idea what year it was but definitely a square body. I found out only 3 bolts were holding it in. I took it off and I bought another square body bed for 120 bucks. I put it on and only 4 of the bolts lined up. 2 on the front, two on the rear. Why won't the others?

Bolt holes were in different places for different years, Just get a long bit and drill new holes through the frame. I doubt it is going anywhere with 4 bolts in anyways.

Re: "New" bed not lining up?

If I re-drill the holes in the frame to line up with the holes, it will not have any metal on it left. It's only off by about a quarter of an inch. Can I drill the bed floor and crossmember?

Ya you can drill the box and cross-member, just watch when you tighten them down as the original box floor holes have a crush sleeve in them.

? Are these meant to be "crushed"when bolting the bed down?

nope, there to keep the bed floor & cross brace from getting crushed when tightening down the box

these 'sleeves' are meant as an anti-crush mechanism. so that when you tighten the bed bolts down they do not warp the sheet metal of the bed floor.

It's sort of like a really stiff spring. It saves the factory time. They're normally used in rear differentials. The spring effect of the buckling of the sleeve provides a pre-load greater than any force that can release it. It's basically a strong spring.
