Re: Irrigation water
That sucks glad my water comes out of the mountain behind me . It’s an artesian well to a cistern .
Are they going to supply water for drinking at least

Re: Irrigation water
Our drinking water comes from another source ,,thats good ..what I have going on is the newly planted part of my lawn that the is coming up about 1 inch high .. I guess I will have to hook hoses up to the potible water and self water it.. I have fought the heat getting the seed to grow and now this ,,our city has grown some maybe 25000 andmore in the last 10 years and all the water systems that has been here is either breaking or needing new to supply everbody.. Not eactly what we dreamed of when moving here for our ending retirement location,, but it seems we are not the only ones having to deal with population growth,,,

Re: Irrigation water
Apparently it is a thing in Florida too. I had never heard about it until I spent some time talking to a contractor here building an apartment complex, his last job was down there.

Re: Irrigation water
I work for the local water utility in Fairfax VA. Customers can opt to install an "irrigation meter" separate from their normal meter. They only pay for the water on that meter, the normal meter is billed for the water and sewer fee. It's not normally cost effective for small homeowner type lots, but larger properties, commercial properties with lots of landscaping, or pools will see significant cost savings by not paying the sewer rate on the water they're not putting down a drain.

Re: Irrigation water
We get out irrigation water from a reservoir named Lucky Peak and it is takes in a couple counties,, it all depends on run off from snow in the winter months, we start using it second week in April and it gets shut off ist week in October.. when we first moved here 12 years ago it was around $80 a year now it is around $140 a year,,, with Idaho last year being the number one state with record new residences makes me think about how much longer the Lucky Peak can supply to all the new homes in our area ..might have to go to artificial turf ,, laugh laugh

Re: Irrigation water
It’s a pretty common thing in the western US. Our irrigation water at my house comes via ditches and pipe lines from the San Juan river. Our drinking water comes from the San Juan river too. But it obviously gets purified. I miss the water situation on the east coast most of the time. Mother Nature dumping it on you is a lot simpler solution than having to keep up with the pumps, sprinklers, etc. needed to have a garden and grass.
