rebuilding a tilt?

I got a tilt column and its a little loose, how hard is it to rebuild one and how much does parts cost? Do you have to pull it out or can you do it while its in the truck? Thanks Randy

I've tightened several of the tilts. All of the ones that I've worked on didn't need any parts. There are 4 bolts inside that tend to come loose. Just disassemble the column and locktite and tighten the bolts. Makes a world of difference. In some ways, it is easier to do when the column is installed in the vehicle-that the column is firmly held while you do the necessary work.

TTT

My tilt has some slop in it too. I have read some posts before that this is difficult. Are there any special tools? This would be a great one to detail steps and post on Frequent questions board.
